Green Bay, WI (May 5, 2026) – Four people were injured in two separate crashes on State 54/57 in Green Bay on Monday morning, May 4, and around midday. Emergency units responded to the first crash involving three vehicles northbound on State 54/57, also known as Sturgeon Bay Rd, near North Huron Rd/Bay Settlement Rd, around 10:45 a.m. on the city’s far east side.
A 77-year-old woman sustained potentially critical injuries, while a 95-year-old man suffered less severe injuries. Both are from Oconto Falls. A 61-year-old Luxemburg woman, who was driving a second vehicle, was also injured. The driver of the third vehicle was not hurt in the crash.
A second crash occurred around noon while officers were still at the first scene. It happened southbound on State 54/57 near the same intersection area. A 16-year-old Luxemburg girl was injured, and officials believe inattentive driving contributed to the crash.
Part of State 54/57 was closed for about three hours while crews worked to clear both scenes and manage traffic flow.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to those affected and their families.
What Information Is Typically Reviewed After Multiple Crashes on the Same Roadway?
When multiple crashes occur in a short time on the same roadway, early reviews often focus on traffic patterns, driver behavior, and road conditions. Officials typically document vehicle positions, damage points, and timing to understand how each incident developed.
Weather and visibility are also reviewed, even when conditions appear stable. In some cases, driver distraction or following distance may be examined when crashes occur close together in time and location.
These early findings help build a clearer picture of roadway activity before more detailed reports are completed.
