Why Exit Ramp Confusion Can Lead to Wrong-Way Crashes
Wrong-way crashes often begin when a driver enters or exits a highway in the wrong direction. Exit ramps can be especially risky if signs are missed or if a driver is unfamiliar with the road layout. Even a brief mistake can lead to a dangerous situation.
Speed is another factor that increases the risk. Vehicles moving quickly in the wrong direction have little time to react to oncoming traffic. This can have severe consequences, especially when multiple vehicles are involved.
Road design, lighting, and driver awareness all affect how often these incidents occur. Clear signage and staying alert while driving can help reduce the chances of entering a ramp incorrectly.
