Halfmoon, NY (January 11, 2026) – A 50-year-old employee was seriously injured on Saturday morning after being pinned between two vehicles during a crash at the Valvoline Instant Oil Change facility located at 1682 U.S. Route 9 in Halfmoon, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred just before noon, when two vehicles were lined up at the rear garage entrance of the service center. Officials stated that the driver of the second vehicle in line suddenly accelerated, forcefully sandwiching the employee between their car and the vehicle ahead. The impact triggered a chain reaction, sending the first car crashing through the rear glass garage door and into a third vehicle already positioned in the service bay.
That third vehicle was then propelled forward, smashing through the building’s front glass door, resulting in significant structural damage. Emergency medical services rushed to the scene and provided critical care to the injured Valvoline worker, who had suffered leg fractures and was suspected of sustaining internal injuries.
The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center and, according to authorities, remains in serious but stable condition as of Saturday afternoon.
Investigators with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office are actively reviewing the circumstances that led to the sudden acceleration. No charges or citations have been announced at this time, and officials are working to determine whether mechanical failure or driver error was involved.
Our thoughts are with the injured employee and their loved ones during this difficult time, and we hope for a full and swift recovery.
