Head-On Collisions With Vehicle Fires Bring Serious Hazards
Head-on collisions are frequently severe because vehicles meet from opposite directions. The force may cause major front-end damage, airbag deployment, and serious injuries to drivers or passengers.
A vehicle fire adds another danger after the initial collision. Heat, smoke, leaking fluids, and damaged electrical parts may make it unsafe for people nearby to approach until emergency units control the hazard.
Crashes on roads above highways may also affect nearby traffic and create limited space for crews to work. After a serious head-on accident, investigators usually review travel direction, speed, lane position, roadway layout, and vehicle damage to understand how the collision happened.
