Fresno County, CA (June 23, 2026) – One person was hurt in a head-on collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup early Sunday morning at the intersection of W Manning Ave and S Chateau Fresno Ave in Fresno County.

According to dispatch records, the crash was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. on June 21. Initial information indicated that a white semi-truck pulling a refrigerated trailer collided head-on with a green Ford pickup.

Following the impact, the semi reportedly left the roadway and entered a nearby field. Emergency responders arriving at the scene learned that the pickup was blocking traffic while the semi became fully engulfed in flames. Authorities later reported that the trailer involved measured approximately 53 feet in length.

Fire crews responded to extinguish the blaze while law enforcement temporarily shut down portions of the roadway to allow emergency personnel to work safely. One person was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Tow trucks were requested to remove the damaged vehicles, and the roadway was reopened later in the morning. Still, investigators continue examining the circumstances that led to the collision.

We are keeping the injured person in our thoughts and wish them a speedy recovery.

Why Head-On Collisions With Large Trucks Are So Dangerous?

Head-on crashes with commercial trucks carry significant vehicle damage because of the size and weight differences between the vehicles involved. Even when injuries are reported as minor, emergency responders frequently take extensive precautions due to the forces generated during these collisions.

When a truck leaves the roadway after impact, additional hazards may develop, including fires, fuel spills, and roadway obstructions. Fire crews and towing companies are needed to stabilize the scene and remove damaged equipment before traffic can safely resume.

Investigators reviewing collisions involving commercial vehicles may examine driver statements, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and other physical evidence. These findings can help determine how the crash occurred and whether any contributing factors played a role in the events leading up to the collision.
