Frequently Asked Questions
Does speed make a crash worse? Yes. Higher speed means more force at impact and less time for a driver to react or stop, which tends to increase the severity of injuries and vehicle damage.
Why is distracted driving such a risk on highways? Even a few seconds of looking away from the road, at a phone or elsewhere, means traveling a significant distance blind at highway speeds, which can turn a routine drive into a crash.
What should someone do right after a car accident? Move to a safe spot if possible, check for injuries, call 911, and exchange information with the other driver. Document the scene with photos if it's safe to do so, and seek a medical check even if injuries aren't obvious right away.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Hellam Township, PA
Anyone involved in a crash in Hellam Township should prioritize getting checked by a medical provider, since some injuries, especially to the neck, back or head, don't show symptoms right away. Keep a copy of any police or fire department report for your records, and follow up with your insurance company promptly. If a vehicle needs to be towed or repaired, take photos before it's moved if conditions allow. Give yourself time to recover and don't rush back to driving or daily routines before you feel ready.
