Hinesville, GA (July 25, 2026) – A woman was hurt after a vehicle involved in a police pursuit collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe at the intersection of General Screven Rd and W Oglethorpe Hwy in Hinesville on Thursday afternoon.
The pursuit began shortly before 12:30 p.m. when an officer attempted a traffic stop in Walthourville, and the driver allegedly fled. The pursuit was later discontinued near Melody Dr. and W Oglethorpe Hwy. because of heavy traffic, but the driver continued into Hinesville before striking the Hyundai.
The Hyundai driver was taken to a local medical center with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the fleeing vehicle left the vehicle afterward and ran away. The person involved had not been located as of the latest report. The review into the collision remains underway as more details are gathered.
