Why Are Motorcycle Crashes Often More Severe Than Other Collisions?
Motorcycle crashes frequently result in more serious injuries compared to other types of accidents due to the limited protection riders have. Unlike occupants of passenger vehicles, motorcyclists are exposed and more vulnerable to direct impact.
Intersections are particularly high-risk areas for motorcycle crashes, as drivers may fail to see approaching motorcycles or misjudge their speed. Even a low-speed collision can result in significant injuries for a rider.
Factors such as visibility, right-of-way violations, and reaction time all play important roles in these incidents. Increased awareness from both drivers and motorcyclists, along with cautious driving at intersections, can help reduce the risk of severe crashes.
