What to Know About Crashes on Busy Highways
Crashes on major highways can quickly affect traffic, especially when lanes must be closed for emergency response and scene clearance. Drivers approaching a crash should slow down and remain alert.
Keeping a safe following distance gives drivers more time to react when traffic suddenly stops. Staying focused on the road can also help reduce the risk of secondary collisions.
Drivers should follow posted speed limits and traffic directions while traveling through areas where a crash has occurred. Moving carefully around emergency scenes helps protect both motorists and responders.
