Why Early Morning Pedestrian Encounters Can Be Especially Dangerous
Pedestrian accidents that occur before sunrise often pose additional risks to both drivers and pedestrians. Lower visibility during early morning hours can make it harder to spot someone crossing a roadway, especially near busy intersections or wide multilane roads. Street lighting, weather, and traffic speed may also affect how quickly a driver can react.
In many pedestrian roadway emergencies, investigators review surveillance footage, traffic signals, and vehicle debris. Witness statements can also help piece together the direction the vehicle traveled after leaving the area. Medical reports sometimes provide more information about the force involved and how the person was struck.
Busy intersections near highways or commercial corridors may see increased pedestrian activity during morning commuting hours, increasing the risk of serious injuries.
