Columbus, OH (May 31, 2026) – A motorcyclist was seriously injured after colliding with multiple vehicles in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, on Interstate 670 near the Neil Avenue exit.
Police said the crash happened just after 2:30 a.m. on westbound Interstate 670 when a white sedan collided with a dark-colored vehicle also traveling west. Investigators said the impact caused the sedan to veer into a motorcycle in an adjacent lane.
The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Officials later said the rider was in stable condition. Authorities said the dark-colored vehicle involved in the initial impact left the scene without stopping or contacting emergency services. We are thinking of the injured motorcyclist and wishing them a steady recovery.
Why Multi-Vehicle Hit-and-Run Crashes Can Be Hard to Reconstruct
Hit-and-run crashes involving multiple vehicles can be complex because each impact may happen within seconds of the first. When one driver leaves the scene, investigators must rely on physical evidence such as vehicle debris, roadway markings, and surveillance footage to piece together what occurred.
Chain-reaction collisions on highways often involve sudden lane changes or loss of control after an initial impact. Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable in these situations due to limited protection and exposure to surrounding traffic. Even when injuries are not immediately life-threatening, recovery can depend on the force and direction of the impact.
