Why Motorcycle vs. Turning Vehicle Crashes Are So Common
Crashes involving motorcycles and turning vehicles often occur in areas with frequent driveways, intersections, or commercial entrances. These locations require drivers to judge gaps in traffic while also being aware of smaller, faster-moving vehicles that may be harder to see.
Motorcycles can be especially difficult to detect when they are approaching at higher speeds or are partially obscured by other traffic. Investigators reviewing these crashes typically examine sightlines, vehicle timing, and turning movements to determine how both vehicles entered the same path of travel. Even low-speed impacts can result in serious injuries for riders due to limited physical protection.
