What Evidence Can Help in a Pedestrian Hit-and-Run?

Pedestrian hit-and-run cases may depend on several types of evidence to establish what happened. Nearby security cameras can sometimes capture passing vehicles, license plates, or the moments leading up to a person being struck. Witness accounts may also provide details about the vehicle’s direction, appearance, or actions.

Physical evidence can offer additional information. Vehicle parts, paint marks, tire marks, clothing, and other items found near the point of contact may help connect a vehicle to the pedestrian. Traffic signals, lighting, weather, and visibility can also be reviewed to understand the conditions at the time. Information from nearby businesses, homes, and passing vehicles may become useful when a driver leaves before being identified.
