Moreno Valley, CA (September 1, 2026) – A driver merging onto eastbound SR-60 was run off the roadway by another vehicle near the Perris Boulevard off-ramp on Tuesday morning, September 2, according to dispatch logs. Fire crews responded around 10:15 a.m. after the vehicle involved was found in a nearby field.

One person on the ground was reported uncooperative with responding crews and did not want to discuss what happened. A green Dodge Challenger was later towed from the scene. Details about the extent of the injuries were not immediately available. The search for the driver responsible remains ongoing.

We hope everyone involved has a smooth recovery.

Why Might Someone Involved in a Crash Be Reluctant to Speak With Responders?

There are many reasons a person might hesitate to discuss what happened right after a crash, including shock, fear, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the sudden situation. Responders are trained to approach these moments with patience, since a reluctant person may still need medical attention regardless of whether they’re ready to talk.

Investigators generally don’t rely on a single person’s willingness to speak, especially in a hit-and-run, since physical evidence like vehicle damage, debris, and skid marks can still provide meaningful information. This is part of why an investigation can move forward even when someone involved isn’t immediately cooperative.

Crews typically prioritize safety and medical needs first, giving a person time and space before pressing for details about what occurred. This approach helps ensure care isn’t delayed while still allowing the investigation to continue through other available evidence.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
