How Left-Turn Crashes Can Affect Moped Riders
Left-turn crashes can be especially serious for moped riders because they have less protection than people inside cars. When a vehicle turns across oncoming traffic, a rider may have very little time to slow down or move away from danger.
Mopeds are smaller than cars and can be harder to see at night. Street lighting, driver attention, and the position of each vehicle may affect how the crash happens. The force of impact can throw a rider from the moped, which may lead to severe injuries.
A proper helmet and protective gear can affect the type and severity of injuries in a crash. Even at lower speeds, a rider can hit the road or another object with strong force. Medical teams often assess head trauma, broken bones, and internal injuries after this type of collision.
