Hopkins County, TX (January 21, 2026) – A man was killed after being hit by a truck while attempting to cross Interstate 30 in Hopkins County. The fatal incident occurred near mile marker 118 along the south frontage road around 6:45 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Officials reported that a woman had pulled over due to a flat tire, prompting family members to arrive and assist. During the attempt to bring a spare tire across the roadway, a male family member was struck by a westbound pickup truck.
Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement during the initial investigation.
As of Wednesday, DPS confirmed that the case remains under active investigation. Further details, including the identity of the victim, have not yet been made public.
