Two-Vehicle Crashes at Rural Kansas Intersections: Common Causes and Concerns
Crashes at intersections along rural Kansas roads are among the most common types of collisions reported in the state. Many of these roads lack traffic signals or turn lanes, making it harder for drivers to judge the speed and distance of oncoming vehicles. When a pickup truck or larger vehicle is involved, the impact force tends to be greater, which can increase the severity of injuries to those in smaller vehicles.
Breathing difficulties following a crash can result from several causes, including chest trauma from a seatbelt, airbag deployment, or the impact itself. Even when injuries appear minor at first, symptoms like shortness of breath are taken seriously by emergency personnel and often prompt a higher level of care. Getting prompt medical attention in these situations is important, particularly in areas farther from major trauma centers.
