Los Angeles, CA (September 6, 2026) – A Hyundai Genesis and a Mercedes were involved in a collision on the northbound U.S. Highway 101 on-ramp at Hollywood Boulevard at about 8 p.m. on Friday, September 4, leaving one person hospitalized.
The CHP log reported gasoline leaking from one of the vehicles. Both vehicles were blocking part of the roadway near the top of the entrance ramp.
Emergency units were sent to the area. The circumstances remained under review.

Fuel Leaks Add Another Hazard After Vehicle Contact
Gasoline leaking after vehicle contact can create risks beyond the initial roadway emergency. Fuel may spread across pavement, produce flammable vapors, and make the surface slippery for people working nearby.
Entrance ramps can complicate these hazards because space is often limited by barriers, curves, and merging traffic. Disabled vehicles may block most of the available travel path, leaving little room for approaching motorists to pass safely.
Crews may need to control traffic while checking the leak, treating patients, and arranging vehicle removal. The position of the vehicles, amount of spilled fuel, and extent of mechanical damage can all affect how long the ramp remains restricted. Keeping traffic away from the affected section also gives emergency personnel room to work safely.
