IMPERIAL, Imperial County, Calif., Nov. 8, 2026 — A crash between two pickup trucks shut down Forrester Road near Aten Road in Imperial on Thursday morning, November 5, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly before 7:35 a.m. near the 2400 block of Forrester Road, close to the Aten Road intersection, the CHP traffic log shows. A white Toyota Tundra pickup and a gray Ford F-150 pickup collided, blocking both lanes of the roadway, according to the agency's dispatch log.
American Medical Response sent a medic unit to the scene, and U.S. Border Patrol personnel also responded to assist, the CHP log indicates. The log does not specify the extent of the occupants' injuries or how many people were in each vehicle.
Both lanes of Forrester Road were shut down while crews cleared the wreckage, and tow crews were called to remove both vehicles from the roadway. The cause of the crash had not been released as of Thursday, and the CHP had not said whether speed or impairment played a role.
We hope everyone involved is okay, and we will share more as details are confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do trucks need so much distance to come to a stop?
Heavier vehicles carry more momentum, so they need more time and roadway to slow down than a passenger car, especially when loaded or traveling at highway speeds. That extra stopping distance can turn what would be a near-miss for a smaller vehicle into a collision.
What makes crashes involving trucks more dangerous than typical car crashes?
The size and weight difference between a truck and a smaller vehicle usually means more force is transferred in a collision, which can lead to more serious injuries for occupants of the smaller vehicle.
What is an underride crash?
An underride crash happens when a smaller vehicle slides partly or fully beneath a truck's trailer or body during a collision, which can cause severe damage to the smaller vehicle's upper frame and put occupants at greater risk.
What are a truck's blind spots, and why do they matter?
Trucks have large blind spots along both sides, directly behind, and close to the front of the cab. Vehicles in these areas may not be visible to the truck driver, which is why experts advise other drivers to stay out of those zones when possible.
