Indianapolis, IN (January 12, 2026) – A 38-year-old man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle along N German Church Rd on January 11. The driver involved fled the scene, prompting a hit-and-run investigation in the East Warren neighborhood.
The crash occurred around 6:22 p.m. in the 1400 block of N German Church Rd. According to emergency radio traffic, the victim was riding his bike when a white sedan struck him, causing him to be thrown over the vehicle’s hood and into the side mirror. Engine 41 and Medic 41 responded to the scene, where they found the man alert but visibly injured. He suffered a partial amputation of his right pinky, a deformity to his right middle finger, and abrasions to his toe. A trauma alert was issued, and the man was stabilized and transported to Eskenazi Hospital for further treatment.
EMS personnel applied a cervical collar and initiated IV fluids at the scene, noting the victim had not lost consciousness and maintained stable vital signs during transport. Medics were also able to recover the severed portion of the injured finger for possible surgical reattachment.
At this time, investigators have not identified the driver or vehicle involved in the collision. The incident occurred within City Council District 20, represented by Councilor Michael-Paul Hart, and falls under Warren Township.
