What Happens During Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crashes Involving Motorcycles?
Multi-vehicle crashes on freeways often begin when one sudden slowdown or impact disrupts traffic flow. On high-speed roads, drivers may have limited time to react, which can lead to chain-reaction collisions.
Motorcycles are more exposed in these situations due to their size and stability. Even minor impacts can result in the rider being separated from the bike or ending up on the roadway or shoulder.
After such crashes, emergency crews typically focus on separating injured individuals from traffic and clearing lanes to restore movement. Investigators later review vehicle positions, speed, and roadway conditions to determine how the sequence of impacts occurred.
