Indianapolis, IN (January 28, 2026) – An 86-year-old man sustained head injuries on January 27 after his vehicle was rear-ended by a semi near North Senate Ave in Indianapolis. The impact caused significant intrusion to the vehicle’s windshield, prompting a trauma alert and rapid EMS response.
According to paramedics, the man was alert and oriented upon evaluation, though he suffered a large hematoma on his forehead and swelling near both eyes, along with a minor laceration. He was noted to be on blood thinners, increasing concern for internal bleeding.
Despite the force of the collision, there was no airbag deployment, and the patient maintained stable vital signs while en route to the hospital. EMS estimated arrival within minutes of reporting the trauma.
The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the full circumstances.
