Indianapolis, IN (March 15, 2026) – A high-speed crash early on Sunday morning in Indianapolis left one driver dead after a vehicle reportedly went airborne before colliding with another car.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the crash just after 2 a.m. near the intersection of North Sherman Drive and East Washington Street in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Investigators said surveillance footage showed a Chevrolet Camaro traveling northbound on North Sherman Drive at a high rate of speed.
According to police, the vehicle was moving fast enough that it briefly became airborne at one point along the roadway. After the car landed, the driver reportedly lost control and crossed into the path of a southbound vehicle.
The Camaro then collided with the oncoming vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries to the other driver involved in the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and secured the area while investigators began reviewing the circumstances leading up to the collision. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
The investigation remains ongoing by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
