Indianapolis, IN (January 28, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on January 27 in front of the Family Dollar near the intersection of West Morris St and South Sheffield Ave in the West Indianapolis neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly before 2:48 p.m. and prompted a rapid emergency response.
Units from Engine 19 and Medic 74 were dispatched to the scene to assist the victim, who was found near the 1200 block of South 2200 West. Additional support from Medic 29 followed shortly after as responders evaluated the individual for injuries at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released information on the identity or condition of the pedestrian, and details surrounding the circumstances of the incident remain limited. The location is within Council District 17, which is represented by Council Majority Leader Jared Evans.
The Indianapolis Fire Department and EMS personnel remained on scene for an extended period while assessing the victim and ensuring the area was secure.
