Aptos, CA (August 11, 2026) – A two-vehicle accident on northbound SR 1 near Rio Del Mar left at least one person with minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol initially listed the matter as involving no injuries before changing the classification to minor injuries at 1:47 p.m.
A white Chrysler Pacifica was reported off the freeway, while a black vehicle was also involved. Airbags deployed, and one passenger reportedly noticed the airbags after the vehicles came to rest.
The reporting party was unsure whether the vehicle could be driven and planned to move it if possible. Both vehicles were initially reported blocking Lane 1, and one vehicle was later moved off the freeway.
