Why Injury Information Can Change After a Traffic Crash
The severity of injuries reported after a traffic crash can change as emergency personnel evaluate the people involved. Initial dispatch information is often based on limited details from callers, so early reports may list injuries as unknown or indicate that no one appears to be hurt.
As medical assessments continue, injuries that were not immediately apparent may later be classified as minor or more serious. Some people experience pain or symptoms only after the initial shock has worn off. Dispatch records are frequently updated to reflect the most accurate information available as the situation develops. Because of this, early reports should be viewed as preliminary until additional details are confirmed.
