Police Report Request Personal Injury Litigation

Norfolk, VA (August 24, 2026) – A 9-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car on Saturday night, August 22, at West 40th Street and Bowdens Ferry Road. The incident happened around 10:25 p.m.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, officers responded after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle. The driver fled the scene following the incident, and the boy was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Detectives later charged Christian Tabb, 18, of North Chesterfield, with hit-and-run resulting in personal injury. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances.

We are thinking of the young boy and his family as he receives medical care.

What Makes Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crashes Especially Dangerous?

Children can face serious risks when struck by vehicles because of their smaller size and limited protection. The severity of an injury can depend on the vehicle’s speed, the point of impact, and where the person lands after being struck.

Leaving the scene can also delay medical assistance for an injured pedestrian. Information from witnesses, nearby surveillance cameras, vehicle damage, and other evidence may help establish what happened.

Drivers should remain alert for pedestrians, particularly near intersections and residential areas. Maintaining a safe speed and watching carefully for people entering or crossing the roadway can give drivers more time to react.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
