Fort Hall, ID (June 19, 2026) – Two people were hurt on Thursday morning, June 18, after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Fort Hall.

The accident happened around 10:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 at milepost 84 in Bingham County. The Idaho State Police said a 27-year-old Pocatello man in a Toyota RAV4 was attempting to use the interstate crossover when his vehicle was struck by a southbound Ford Maverick.

The first collision led to a chain reaction involving two more vehicles. A BMW then struck the Ford Maverick, and a Genesis later collided with the BMW.

The Ford Maverick driver, an 84-year-old Pocatello man, and a 59-year-old woman riding in the Genesis were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with injuries. All people involved were wearing seat belts, according to the report.

The left southbound lane was blocked for about an hour while the roadway was reviewed. The Fort Hall crash remains under investigation as officials work to confirm the full sequence.

We hope the two injured people receive the care they need and recover fully.

Interstate Crossovers Can Create Complex Traffic Risks

Interstate crossovers can be dangerous because they involve traffic moving at highway speeds. When a vehicle enters or attempts to cross lanes, nearby drivers may have only seconds to react.

A sudden movement across an interstate can also affect several vehicles at once. One crash can push traffic into nearby lanes, causing other drivers to brake, steer away, or become part of a chain reaction. These crashes can be especially difficult when multiple vehicles are traveling close together.

Lane blockages after a multi-vehicle crash can add more risk for approaching drivers. Traffic may slow quickly, and emergency units need room to work safely. After a serious interstate accident, reviews usually focus on vehicle paths, speed, lane position, traffic flow, and where each vehicle was before contact.
