Jasper, MO (January 18, 2026) – A motorcycle rider was injured on Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision that occurred along Fir Rd in Carl Junction, prompting emergency response from Jasper County officials and EMS crews.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:24 p.m. when a 2004 Honda ZXT 1300 traveling westbound collided with an eastbound 2016 walk-in van that was slowing to make a right turn. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the motorcycle failed to slow in time, striking the van and overturning upon impact.
Emergency medical services arrived on scene and transported the 60-year-old male rider from Joplin to Mercy Joplin for treatment of injuries. Authorities noted that the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The van, driven by a 22-year-old man from Diamond, sustained no visible damage and was driven from the scene. In contrast, the motorcycle required towing by private conveyance due to the extent of the impact and the overturn.
Troop D continues to investigate the circumstances of the accident, including whether speed or rider inattention played a role. Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist as he begins his recovery.
