What Information Is Typically Reviewed in Highway Ramp Crashes?
Highway ramp crashes often occur in areas where vehicles are merging, slowing, or changing lanes within a limited space. Investigators typically review vehicle speed, following distance, and merging behavior to understand how the collision occurred.
Ramp geometry and traffic density are also examined, especially when multiple lanes are blocked, and congestion builds quickly. In injury crashes, vehicle damage and roadway evidence help determine the point of impact and how each vehicle moved after contact. Traffic control measures and visibility conditions are also considered when reconstructing events on connector ramps.
