Jefferson Co, MO (January 20, 2026) – A woman was injured Monday afternoon following a rear-end collision involving a garbage truck on Old Highway 21, just south of Greenwood Acres in Jefferson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a 2005 Ford Ranger, traveling northbound, struck the back of a 2019 Isuzu garbage truck heading in the same direction. The impact caused significant damage to the Ford Ranger, rendering it inoperable and requiring it to be towed from the scene by Ive’s Towing.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, a 32-year-old woman from Imperial, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Rock Township Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South for medical care. The driver of the garbage truck, a 49-year-old man from St. Louis, was reportedly unharmed and was able to drive the vehicle away from the scene. The truck sustained moderate damage.
Emergency services responded quickly to assess the situation and provide medical aid. Traffic was temporarily impacted in the area during the cleanup and investigation.
