Why Single-Motorcycle Crashes Can Be Severe
Single-motorcycle crashes can lead to serious injuries because riders have little protection during impact. When a motorcycle leaves its path or goes down, the rider and passenger may be thrown onto the road or nearby ground.
Curves, uneven shoulders, and changing road surfaces can make rural motorcycle crashes more dangerous. Low light near evening hours may also affect visibility, especially on roads with fewer streetlights.
After a serious motorcycle crash, medical crews often check for head, chest, back, and leg injuries. Damage to the motorcycle, roadway marks, and final resting positions might help explain how the crash happened.
