Why Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes Are Especially Concerning
Hit-and-run crashes often delay emergency care for injured pedestrians. When a driver leaves the scene, valuable time can pass before help arrives or critical information is shared with responders.
Major roadways like Van Buren Blvd typically carry steady traffic, even during late-night hours. Reduced lighting and limited visibility after midnight can increase the risk for pedestrians walking near or across the roadway.
Front-end damage is common in pedestrian crashes, as the initial impact often occurs with the front of a vehicle. Leaving the scene of a collision is a serious offense, and locating the vehicle involved is often a key focus in these investigations.
