JURUPA VALLEY, Riverside County, Calif., Nov. 3, 2026 — A crash involving five vehicles left at least one person hurt on Monday morning, November 2, on eastbound State Route 60 west of Rubidoux Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The person who called in the crash reported hitting their head and requested paramedics. The agency's early dispatch notes listed injuries as unknown, then described a gray Honda Accord involved with a black Nissan, a white van and a white pickup truck. A separate report noted a white Chevrolet had also struck a silver vehicle and said two of the vehicles were blocking lanes.
All of the vehicles involved were reported blocking the eastbound carpool lane and the number one lane, snarling traffic in the area. One vehicle was later found to be driveable and was moved to the center divider, but the CHP logged the scene as a traffic hazard at least twice while units worked to clear it. Tow trucks were requested to remove the remaining vehicles from the roadway.
The cause remains under investigation. Our thoughts are with those who were injured, and we wish them a full recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are secondary crashes common after an initial wreck like this one?
Yes. When a crash blocks travel lanes on a freeway, the stopped or slowed traffic behind it creates a risk of additional vehicles striking one another before the scene can be cleared.
What makes a multi-vehicle crash harder to investigate than a two-car crash?
Investigators have to work out the order in which each vehicle struck another, since different drivers may have been involved in separate impacts within the same incident.
What typically causes a pile-up involving several vehicles?
Chain-reaction crashes usually start when one vehicle slows or stops unexpectedly and the vehicles behind it cannot react in time, usually because of heavy traffic, reduced visibility or following too closely.
