Understanding the Dangers of Hit-and-Run Crashes
Hit-and-run crashes occur when a driver leaves the scene after striking another vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist. These incidents are especially dangerous because victims may not receive immediate help, and important evidence can be lost.
Witness accounts and vehicle tracking are critical to these investigations for identifying those responsible. High-speed collisions increase the likelihood of severe injury or death, particularly for pedestrians.
Communities often rely on law enforcement and public reporting to quickly respond, secure the scene, and prevent further accidents while pursuing the individuals involved.
