Frequently Asked Questions
How do left-turning vehicles end up colliding with motorcycles?
A driver turning left across oncoming traffic sometimes misjudges a motorcycle's speed or distance, or simply doesn't see it, and turns directly into its path. These misjudged turns are a common setup for intersection crashes involving motorcycles.
What can drivers do to spot motorcycles more reliably?
Taking a second, deliberate look before turning, checking mirrors and blind spots twice, and treating a motorcycle with the same caution as a full-sized vehicle can help a driver catch it in time.
What should a rider do immediately after a motorcycle crash?
Get to a safe spot if possible, call 911, and avoid removing a helmet unless it's necessary for breathing. Even if injuries seem minor at first, a medical check is important since some injuries don't show symptoms right away.
Do most motorcycle crashes happen at intersections?
Intersections are a frequent crash point for motorcycles because they involve turning vehicles, crossing traffic, and brief windows where a driver has to judge another vehicle's speed and distance.
