Lac La Belle, WI (March 25, 2026) – A major traffic accident involving multiple patients and reported entrapment shut down roadways on Tuesday near the intersection of Highway 67 and McMahon Road in the Village of Lac La Belle.
Emergency crews with the Western Lakes Fire District responded to the scene with multiple units, including engines, medic teams, and command staff. Officials said the incident was upgraded due to the severity of injuries, the number of people involved, and the need for extrication. Upon arrival, responders worked to assist those involved and free at least one person trapped inside a vehicle. The extent of injuries has not yet been released.
Both Highway 67 and McMahon Road were closed for an extended period as crews worked to treat victims and clear the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the crash, and more details will be released as they become available.
We send our thoughts to those injured as they receive medical care.
What Makes Multi-Patient Crashes More Complex for Responders
Crashes involving multiple victims often require a larger emergency response and careful coordination between crews. Medical teams must quickly assess each person’s condition to prioritize care.
When extrication is needed, specialized equipment is used to safely remove trapped occupants. This process can take time, especially if vehicles are heavily damaged.
Road closures are common in these situations to allow responders space to work safely and to prevent additional hazards. Investigations typically follow once all victims have been assisted.
