What Is Reviewed After Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Highways?
Crashes involving three or more vehicles often happen when traffic slows suddenly or when one vehicle makes an unexpected move. On highways, higher speeds can make it harder for drivers to react in time to avoid a chain reaction.
Investigators typically examine the order of impact, vehicle damage, and roadway conditions. These details help determine how the crash started and how additional vehicles became involved.
Safety features such as seat belts and airbags can reduce the severity of injuries. Their use is often noted when reviewing how occupants were affected during the crash.
