Why Stolen Vehicle Crashes Often Happen During Late-Night Hours
Crashes involving stolen vehicles frequently occur late at night when traffic is lighter, and visibility may be reduced. Drivers fleeing from law enforcement may travel at higher speeds or make sudden turns, increasing the risk of losing control.
Residential areas near major roads, such as Rte 59 and Grass Lake Rd, can present additional hazards. Subdivisions often have curves, limited lighting, and intersections that require careful navigation. At higher speeds, these features can make it difficult to avoid a collision.
Young drivers are especially vulnerable in high-speed crashes. Even when injuries are not life-threatening, rollovers or sudden impacts can cause serious harm. Staying alert and reducing speed are key safety steps for all drivers, particularly during nighttime travel.
