Frequently Asked Questions
Why do motorcycle crashes tend to cause more serious injuries than car crashes?
Riders have no frame, airbags or seatbelt around them, so a crash or fall often means direct contact with the road or another vehicle, raising the chance of serious injury even at lower speeds.
How do left-turning vehicles cause collisions with motorcycles?
A common pattern is a car turning left in front of an oncoming motorcycle because the driver misjudges its speed or distance, or simply doesn't see it in time.
What can drivers do to watch for motorcycles more effectively?
Checking mirrors and blind spots twice, allowing extra following distance, and taking a second look before turning or changing lanes can help drivers spot a motorcycle they might otherwise miss.
What should a rider do immediately after a motorcycle crash?
Move to safety if possible, call 911, and get checked by medical personnel even if injuries seem minor, since some injuries like concussions or internal bleeding aren't immediately obvious.
What to Do After a Motorcycle Crash in Lakehills, TX
After a motorcycle crash, getting a prompt medical evaluation matters even if someone feels able to walk away, since adrenaline can mask pain or injury for hours. It's also worth asking responding officers how to obtain a copy of the official crash report once it's filed, as this document is often needed for insurance or other follow-up.
