Pasadena, CA (July 4, 2026) – An LAPD motorcycle officer was hurt in a traffic incident on the eastbound Interstate 210 Freeway just east of the Interstate 134 interchange in Pasadena. The collision was first reported at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the officer received minor injuries and was expected to be OK. Sky5 footage from about 1:45 p.m. showed the police motorcycle lying on its side on the freeway. A SigAlert remained in effect until 2 p.m., with only three eastbound lanes open, causing delays that extended onto the eastbound Interstate 134 through Eagle Rock.
It has not been confirmed what led to the crash, and it remains unclear whether any other vehicles were involved. The cause of the collision is still being examined as additional information becomes available.
We wish the injured officer a quick and complete recovery.
Why Freeway Crashes Involving Motorcycles Affect Traffic
Motorcycle collisions on busy freeways can cause significant traffic delays, even when injuries are reported as minor. Lanes may be temporarily closed to allow damaged vehicles to be removed, document roadway evidence, and ensure the travel lanes are safe to reopen.
Traffic backups can spread beyond the original location, especially near major freeway interchanges where several routes connect. Drivers approaching these areas are usually required to merge into fewer open lanes, which can slow traffic for several miles. Once the roadway has been cleared and any hazards addressed, traffic generally improves, although congestion may persist for some time before returning to normal.
