Why Injury Crashes on Freeway Connectors Can Lead to Delays
Freeway connectors usually experience heavy traffic because they combine vehicles from different highways into a limited number of lanes. When a collision occurs in these areas, even a small number of disabled vehicles can reduce available space and slow traffic in multiple directions.
When injuries are reported, additional time may be needed to assist those involved, document the roadway, and remove damaged vehicles. Tow trucks are frequently requested when vehicles cannot be driven from the freeway. Once the roadway is cleared and any hazards have been addressed, traffic usually improves, although delays may persist as congestion gradually eases.
