Frequently Asked Questions
What can drivers do to spot motorcycles more easily?
Check mirrors and blind spots an extra time before changing lanes or turning, since a motorcycle's narrow profile makes it easy to miss at a glance.
What should a rider do immediately after a motorcycle crash?
If possible, move to a safe spot away from traffic, call 911, and seek medical evaluation even if injuries seem minor, since some, like internal injuries, aren't obvious right away.
Do motorcycle crashes happen more commonly at intersections?
Many do, because turning vehicles usually misjudge a motorcycle's speed or distance, which is why left turns across oncoming traffic are a common flashpoint.
How does the road surface affect motorcycle safety?
Loose gravel, wet pavement, and uneven lanes affect a motorcycle's traction far more than a car's, so riders generally need more following distance and slower cornering speeds in those conditions.
What to Do After a Motorcycle Crash in Las Vegas, NV
After a motorcycle crash, get checked by a medical provider as soon as possible, even if you feel able to walk away, since adrenaline can mask pain from fractures or head injuries. Keep records of any treatment, document the scene with photos if you're able, and get the responding agency's report number for your files. Follow up with your own doctor in the days afterward, since some injuries from a crash in a place like Las Vegas take time to show symptoms.
