Why Left-Turn Motorcycle Crashes Can Be Deadly
Collisions involving motorcycles and vehicles making left turns are common and often serious. Motorcycles are smaller and less visible, making it difficult for drivers to judge their speed or distance accurately.
Even at moderate speeds, a motorcycle striking a turning vehicle can result in severe injuries due to the lack of protective barriers. Riders are especially vulnerable to head and chest trauma.
Road conditions, intersection design, and visibility all contribute to these crashes. Flashing lights or obstructed views can make it harder for drivers to notice oncoming motorcycles, increasing the risk of collision.
