How Can Fog Affect Roadway Visibility?
Heavy fog can make it difficult for drivers to see vehicles, pedestrians, and other objects ahead. Reduced visibility can limit the amount of time a driver has to recognize a hazard and react safely.
Vehicles and equipment without lights or other visibility features can be harder to detect in foggy conditions, particularly at night or on roads with limited lighting. Drivers should reduce speed, increase following distance, use appropriate headlights, and remain alert for objects that may be difficult to see.
