Why Motorcycle Crashes With Cars Can Be Deadly
Motorcycle crashes involving cars can cause severe injuries because riders don’t have much protection than a helmet. A rider can be thrown from the motorcycle during impact, especially when another vehicle crosses into their lane.
Head-on or near head-on impacts can result in serious outcomes. When vehicles travel in opposite directions, the force of the collision can be much greater. Even a single lane departure can leave a rider with little time to react.
Debris from a previous accident can also create added danger for other vehicles nearby. Broken parts, glass, and scattered vehicle pieces may strike following traffic or cause drivers to swerve. Roadway layout, speed, lane position, and helmet use can all affect how serious a motorcycle crash becomes.
