What Causes Rollover Crashes
Single-vehicle rollover crashes often occur when a driver loses control on curved or uneven roadways. Speed, road design, and surface conditions can all influence how a vehicle reacts in these situations. When a vehicle leaves the roadway, the risk of rolling increases, especially on rural highways.
Ejection from a vehicle is one of the most severe outcomes in rollover incidents. It typically happens when seatbelts are not worn or fail to properly restrain occupants during impact. Safety restraints are designed to keep occupants inside the vehicle’s protective structure.
Investigators often review skid patterns, roadway curvature, and vehicle damage to understand how the crash developed. These details help reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
