Las Vegas, NV (May 11, 2026) – A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries. Saturday morning, May 9, after a crash involving a vehicle on Flamingo Rd west of Maryland Pkwy.
The incident occurred around 9:46 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. Emergency units reported that the pedestrian was running south across East Flamingo Rd outside of a marked or implied crosswalk. Evidence from the scene and witness statements indicated the movement pattern leading up to the impact.
The pedestrian moved in front of a stopped RTC bus at a north curb bus stop. She then entered the path of a 2009 Hyundai Sonata traveling westbound on Flamingo Rd. The front of the vehicle struck her, sending her onto the roadway.
The pedestrian was taken to Sunrise Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Shanka Chemjong of Las Vegas, remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to emergency units.
