LEXINGTON, Lexington County, S.C., Nov. 7, 2026 — One person died, and another was injured in a four-vehicle crash on Friday morning, November 6, on North Lake Drive near Pilgrim Church Road in Lexington County.
The crash happened around 10:20 a.m., according to Master Trooper William Bennett. A utility truck, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Nissan Altima were all headed north on North Lake Drive when the utility truck attempted to turn left onto Pilgrim Church Road. A Kia Sorento traveling south reportedly swerved to avoid hitting the turning truck.
The Kia then struck the Silverado head-on, and the impact pushed the Silverado into the Altima, according to the trooper's account. The driver of the Silverado, the only person in that vehicle, was taken by EMS for treatment and died from the injuries. The Kia's driver, also alone in the vehicle, was transported for treatment as well; the extent of those injuries was not released.
The two occupants of the utility truck and the two in the Nissan Altima were not hurt, authorities said. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash, and no cause or charges have been announced.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Frequently Asked Questions
What typically causes pile-ups involving several vehicles?
Multi-vehicle crashes usually start with one vehicle slowing, turning, or stopping unexpectedly, which forces trailing or oncoming drivers to react quickly and sometimes collide with each other.
Why do these chain-reaction crashes happen so fast?
Once the first vehicle swerves or brakes, following drivers usually have only a second or two to respond, and a single avoidance maneuver can set off several more collisions down the line.
What should drivers do if they come upon a crash scene on a busy road?
Slow down well before reaching the scene, turn on hazard lights, and watch for emergency crews or debris. Avoid stopping in a travel lane if possible, and follow any instructions from responding officers.
