Libertyville, IL (April 11, 2026) – A Park City man was seriously injured following a three-vehicle crash that caused a rollover along Interstate 94 near Libertyville in Lake County.
The crash occurred around 12:25 a.m. on westbound I-94 at milepost 14, near Route 137. Illinois State Police and the Libertyville Fire Department responded after multiple 911 calls reported a crash with a rollover.
According to investigators, the crash involved a 2006 Toyota RAV4, a 2025 Honda HR-V, and a semi-tractor-trailer. The impact caused the Toyota to roll over and the Honda to spin out.
The Honda then struck the semi-truck and the center median barrier. The 34-year-old driver of the Toyota, from Park City, was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Honda, a 25-year-old man from Antioch, along with two passengers, and the driver of the semi-truck were not injured.
Emergency crews worked to manage the scene and clear the roadway following the incident.
We wish the injured a full recovery.
What Causes Chain-Reaction Crashes on High-Speed Interstates
Chain-reaction crashes on highways like I-94 often begin with a single impact that disrupts multiple vehicles.
At higher speeds, even minor contact can lead to loss of control, rollovers, or secondary collisions with other vehicles or barriers.
Maintaining safe speeds and adequate following distance is critical to reducing the risk of multi-vehicle crashes.
